Join us for a rare screening of ‘Concerning Violence’: a visual telling of the ideas in Franz Fanon’s book, ‘The Wretched of the Earth’, narrated by Lauryn Hill.
6pm Thursday 26 May – Bankstown Arts Centre, 5 Olympic Parade Bankstown.
The screening of the documentary offers a critical introduction to Fanon’s work and will be followed by a facilitated discussion led by Professor Alana Lentin and Omar Bensaidi.
Known as the philosopher of the barricades, Fanon’s work has informed numerous anti-colonial struggles. Decades later, his work continues to present a durable intellectual framework for contemporary decolonial movements.
A Fanon reader, outlines of the presentations and reflections from the audience to be posted here soon.
